A Call to Action

“In nothing has the Church so lost her hold on reality as in her failure to understand and respect the secular vocation. She has allowed work and religion to become separate departments, and is astonished to find that, as a result, the secular work of the world is turned to purely selfish and destructive ends, and that the greater part of the world’s intelligent workers have become irreligious, or at least, uninterested in religion. . . How can anyone remain interested in a religion which seems to have no concern with nine-tenths of his life?”*
– Dorothy Sayers in Letters to a Diminished Church

Many people will agree that Sayers’ statement from the mid-1990s is still relevant today. The Church must rise up to the challenge by training disciples to apply biblical principles from God’s Word to transform Work, Workers, and the World for Christ and the glory of God.

Moody Theological Seminary is playing a role in training such disciples. Through the Faith, Work, and Economics Initiative, Moody Theological Seminary is training disciples in actionable skills through two avenues on the Chicago campus of Moody Bible Institute:

  1. Faith and Work Lecture Series.  A series of 9 lectures are currently being held during the 2015-2016 academic year. To view information about previous lectures, click here. To view information about upcoming lectures, click here.

Perspective of a Student in the Program
“I seek to understand how to lead as Christ did, how to build an economically flourishing company through the application of biblical principles, and how to build a company culture through the integration of entrepreneurship and faith. I am confident that Moody’s Vocational Stewardship program will serve as excellent training in achieving this.” -D. Wilkins
